Superlift Kit Bought!

I have 4 inch SL spring packs on the rear of my truck and they are not soft. I think stock are softer.

Well superlift's web site said they were 20% softer than stock. I would like to just bolt theirs on, but they are kind of expensive. Also if they are too soft for towing they will be useless to me too. I have a small pop up camper now, but intend to buy a self contained within a year, so towing capacity is an issue. I dont want the montaineer to squat alot when I am pulling trailers.

the main F-150 leaf wont fit because it is wayyyy to long.

Well I towed a trailer that had around 2000 lbs in it with no problems. I guess it depends on what you tow and how much weight is on the tongue. The reason I guess 2k is because the door sticker says 5180(GVW) and when I went through the scales, total was 7600lbs with the trailer.

FROADER: Can I get lift (longer) air shocks?

The deal with superlift shocks are, if the junkyard wants too much for the leaf packs, then they may be my only option. But, I already promised my wife that I wasnt going to spend any more money on my truck, then I found the lift. She understands why I couldn't pass it up, but doesn’t want me to spend any more. Superlift springs from summit are going to cost me in the neighborhood of $300 and possibly my marriage.

You know, I'm not positive on that. I imagine if you knew the length they need to be (compressed and extended) you could find some that would work.

You know, the SOA wouldn't be too high if you did a TT up front on top of the lift.

I Understand. My wife started *****ing about the time I bought another motor to put in because mine was at 240k. That was 4 fender flares, MAF, BBK throttle body, 98 seats, auto dimming mirror, aussie locker, and a winch ago. :D

Well that brings up another issue. I just bought my 265's and Im afraid if I do a TT and 6" in the back it will be too much lift too little tires. If I get any bigger tires, Ill have to re gear. (I almost need to now for towing purposes)

Secondly, I have to fit in my garage. I believe it is an 8' high door. Im spoiled and like to keep my vehicle indoors whenever possible.

Yeah, well I talked her into the headers because they were the last thing, since then I got new shocks, tires, amp, sub box and now a lift :D

She told me I cant spend any more money on the lift, so I have to do the rear lift on the cheap. I need some ideas!

Hmm... 265s are what 32s? Yeah, that might look a little goofy. Even with that much lift your truck shouldn't be anywhere near the 8' door. Mine fits in the garage with about 6" lift and 35s.

The superlift might be the best bet for you right now then. I can't imagine the pop-up trailer having much of a tongue weight. Plus if they are a little softer than stock, it will ride smoother. Dead Link Removed

Yeah the pop up has low tounge weight, however I am going to uprgade to a self contained camper in about a year that will have a 400-600 tounge weight.

I just stopped by a salvage yard near my house. They do not have and pre 97 trucks. They have lots of different dodges and stuff, but I dont know about length and arch of those. Plus they want $100 for leafpacks. Seem too high to me for old parts.

They did have a shell of an explorer with the leafs in the back cargo area though. Could I cut the eyelets off of the #1 leaf and put it in my pack? Or would that not generate much lift?

That would only generate about half the thickness of that leaf, (if even that much).

The garage I fit in is only a 7'. I think my truck is about 6'9" without the stock cross bars.

I have the rear lift springs with superlift rear box kit. You'll need the bushings and sway-bar end link extentions. I believe that's all in the rear kit

ps - PM me about the driveshaft (if it'll fit or not)

I believe the superlift kit from the ranger has the extensions needed for the sway bar. I wonder if I can transplant the bushings from my stock springs or buy some at autozone?
