I have a 1998 Explorer and it sure is making a lot of noise in the front driver side area. Everytime I hit a bump in the road it clunks really bad. When I go to slow down or accelerate I get this popping noise and I can also feel it under my feet. I also checked the front tire and I pulled on the top of the tire shaking it back and forth just to see where the noise is comming from and everytime I do that it makes this horrible noise like a rubbing metal together noise. I have had the cv axles replaced on both sides, the rack n pinion has been changed with new tire rod ends. Could this be a ball joint problem? Anyone out there with some ideas sure would be great.

I'm not sure about the driveline, but the engine is a 4.0 SOHC
