The Platinum cluster still shows the same information as NON Platinum models, the layout is different but information is the same.
So no digital speedometer display, correct? That's what I like about the display.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Stephen.

Kind of a hybrid. If you look at the cluster alone the numbers for tach and speedometer are white analog on a black background. Presumably fluorescent paint with background lighting. The indicator needles themselves are the Digital part. With engine shut off at night the cluster would look blank. With power applied the normal items would look digital. Engine running then the speedometer, tachometer, coolant temp and fuel gauges have digital needles and displays look electro-fluorescent similar to Lexus. Although it doesn't look at in the dark and no power but the displays are digital with power applied. The biggest difference is instead of two LCD's on each side of the speedometer there is one central LCD in the middle and two LCD screens embedded under the speedometer and tachometer for a total of three LCD screens.

This is what mine looks like. It's the only picture I have handy. What I'm referring to is the digital speedo in the center display. Is that still available when someone does a 'swap'?

Yes you can still get the digital speedometer as a secondary indication. The "Four Corner" plus speedometer is the center display. Vehicle systems page are divided up among the two other LCD screens, fuel, settings, tire pressure, etc..left side and safety stuff, (ACC, Speed limit indication, etc...right side.

NOTE; With the swap you will most likely lose two items that were available in the NON Platinum cluster.....(Clock and Outside Air temp) They are still available in the center stack SYNC 3 display.

Yes it can be done but not sure if I would recommend it though. With that said let me explain.

The physical fitment of the cluster itself is fine, do yourself a favor invest in a magnetic screwdriver/nut driver. Also visit dealer and purchase at least four extra panel retaining nuts. You might not need them but when you do it will be 5:pm on a Sunday after dealer parts department has closed. A one off fit that most likely won't be available at parts stores or Lowe's Home depot.....ASK ME HOW I Know!!

The Bezel is much easier than I was expecting to remove, simply move the steering wheel FULL AFT as in towards the drivers seat and FULL DOWN. Grab a panel removal tool on one corner and slowly work around. PAY Attention, the white retaining clips are needed and need to be kept in. They are held in place by a piece of thin tape. Remove the retaining clips firmly cut carefully. When they are removed, there is a small set of retaining clips for the dust hood. About 4-6 clips start at the corner....SLOWLY/CAREFULLY and slide old bezel out. You might be able to use original bezel but no guarantees, I got mine (Cluster) to fit during test fit but I am thinking that I did not factor in the Bezel.

Also unless you have a local vendor that can re program on the spot I recommend programming to a FUTURE Mileage. If the cluster comes back sooner than that mileage just wait and install. If you install too early you are affecting the warranty as in showing the vehicle with more miles than actual. This will keep you out of trouble with the DMV. The section on the odometer statement will still have to be filled out for the (NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE) section but I would think that +/- a mile or two would not be a major deal. Another recommendation is to take video or photo of install showing mileage before and after removal. That will be a reference in the event you do get accused of odometer tampering.

There are four retaining nuts two upper, and two lower. The two lower ones can be the problem. Without either a magnetic nut driver or some sort of adhesive on the nut head THEY WILL FALL. And again 5:00 Saturday afternoon and not just fall but fall deeply into one of the many voids of the steering column. I eventually recovered them but after installation.
With my platinum cluster there is about a 1/2 gap in the Bezel I tried reinstalling the normal Bezel and no luck.
The electrical connection is the same as non Platinum. One minor note. The FORSCAN shows the vehicle as a non platinum. Anything FORSCAN related you want to do to the cluster, forget it. My case for example I wanted to add the Ice Warning. I made the Changes per the platinum instrument cluster through FORSCAN but FORSCAN recognized the ECU as a NON Platinum and would not accept the new codes for the warning

The Platinum cluster still shows the same information as NON Platinum models, the layout is different but information is the same.
Wait, so your saying the original bezel doesn't fit right on the platinum cluster??? If so, I'm f'd, as I just ordered one from someone who programs them, mileage and all.

Can you please share the source where you purchase it from? and for how much? Thanks.

Update! Got my Platinum Speedo in! Its a big improvement over the old standard cyclops. Love that i have a real tach.

Are you able to display the digital speedometer in the center where you have the compass?

Yup! Person I bought it from, programmed it for that.

Your cluster has the latest software version, I can tell by the thin blue gauges (2018 Model Year) - I am running the same version on my cluster.

Did you guys swap same year for year cluster? Id love that in my sport but its a 15... just cannot part with it and trade up but would love that dash for sure..

I believe suzook was the first to swap in the cluster. I re-programmed my 2016 Platinum cluster with 2018 software.

Although I can't recall for sure I believe the 2017 software may have been different. I do know there was a slight difference in the display. That was discussed in the forum.

Yes, the 2017 software moved the digital speedometer to the center display and 2018 software updated the graphics slightly with modified gauges and thinner gauge needles. The physical hardware is the same.

Thank you. I thought it had something to do with the digital speedometer or lane keeping feature. I believe in the 2016 it was either or because they were both in the right display. Looking forward to seeing the 12" display in the 2020.
