Switching a V6 to V8

What all would i need to get to do a full switch from my 96 Explorer V6 to a new V8? **I plan on changing tranny too** How much will that run me?

Find a rolled V8 on eBay and you'll be all set. I've seen them go for $1500. You could make money on a project like this. Take what you need.. part out the rest, and BAM.. your swap is paid for. Its all about finding the deals.

Other then a new engine do i need other parts to make it work? like a new chip or anything like that? or does it go in nicly and thats the only thing that i need.

You need a new tranny, harness, etc. It is a lot of work. If you can find a wrecked, donor X, that would be your best bet. There is a bunch of info on V8 swaps in the "Under The Hood" forum.

There is quite a bit more involved then getting a V8 and bolting it in.
