Sync and iOS 6

Legal developer and not worried. Working with Ford and Apple to make it work. Not my first go around with Beta programs. Oh, no.... There are the cops now.....

:D

For those wondering, once Apple notified the public that iOS6 would have MAP bluetooth technology on it, we are fine talking about it in public forums. I read all 37 pages of the agreement and the biggest thing they are worried about is developers pirating the software to others. We are free to talk....

You seriously can't read, nor do you understand an NDA.

The only place you are allowed to discuss UNRELEASED features is in Apple's developer forum. Telling others they are "free to talk" is a serious disregard for a legal agreement which you entered into.

You may only talk about the fact that IOS 6 will have MAP since it was on a slide, you are not allowed to talk about details of the feature including implementation, support, or sub features since those were not discussed in the public keynote.

The reason that Rebecca keeps saying "Ford is working with Apple" is because she's not allowed to talk about it either. Arrogance is not a defense.

Not arrogant at all, simply advising what was read in the agreement. Looks like Nitzer, Sgt, cnsheets and myself are all in severe violation. Please copy and paste the portion of the agreement you feel we are violating. I have read literally thousand of posts from other developers in several forms that have advised of what will work and issues that happen. "unpublished features" are ones that have literally not been discussed by Apple.

If anyone wishes to not hear about iOS6, please advise and I wil remove all references to it, regardless of who posted it.

So when I became a registered developer there was some type of agreement I was supposed to read? hmmm, must have missed that :D

The sections you are violating are sections 4 and 5 of the Registered Apple Developer Agreement (4 titled confidentiality, and 5 titled nondisclosure and nonuse of apple confidential information). The article posted by CNN reveals no new information not already given at the public keynote by apple. The information they released in the article is covered by section 4 as not being confidential ("Confidential information will not include: (ii) information that is generally made available to the public by Apple").

The truth is, there will likely be nobody coming after you, and you will likely have no ramifications from Apple for disseminating confidential information, but it does give us developers who try to abide by all the rules, even to the detriment of our development, a bad taste. Especially when by your own admission you paid for a developer license not to actually develop applications, but just to gain access to the prerelease software (also a violation of the agreement).

Feel free to discuss whatever you want, I'll refrain from commenting on the thread any further

Incorrect. I just got the license and I plan to help them develop iOS6 SPECIFICALLY to work with My Ford Touch. Since this is my first week with Apple, I am still learning all I can do. Maybe you can give me some insight on how all of this works, I would greatly appreciate it. Why I else would I throw the $ out the window? I want this to work for myself and every other My Ford Touch owner out there. Sounds like your are a developer, too? Any plans by yourself to assist Apple to make this work better with My Ford Touch? You can PM me any details that will help me to pass the info to Apple.

Apple adding Bluetooth MAP support is not confidential information. As a developer, you should know that MAP has basically only one function: exchange messages between devices. Bluetooth MAP support was announced to the public by Apple, so therefor, discussing a publicly announced feature in a public forum is not a violation of the agreement.

Many iPhone users, myself included, want to know what will and won't work with iOS6 and MFT. There are countless internet sites and You Tube where developers are discussing publicly announced features.

Bottom line, you need to relax a little. No harm is being done publicly discussing a publicly announced feature :)

Ron,

You left your iPhone 5 here on the counter at the bar. Should we send it back to Apple or will you like to come pick it up?

Since it is at a bar, I will go back and pick it up.... :chug:

Just got my Ex back from Rodeo Ford in Goodyear AZ

New APIM installed and have to say it is noticeably faster then before.

A/C seems cooler too.

But the big plus is that iOS6 Text to Speech is back working on AT&T network.

The Email to Voice only reads back the email subject line and doesn't read the entire email text body.

Mapping is quicker, way less buggy too.

Havent tested MFT Messaging yet, will advise shortly

I hope that's the case with my Explorer. I took it to the dealership yesterday. MFT was progressively getting worse at constantly restarting. The guy at the service department said they will put in a new APIM since I have the latest software.

Regarding your last post, please do let us know. I only found a few sites that show what's new in the latest iOS6 Beta. I did read AT&T will start charging users to use FaceTime over the cellular network. Verizon won't. I definitely will be ditching AT&T this fall.

Bluetooth audio still refuses to connect even though MFT shows my phone connected.

Hopefully that bug is fixed in Q3

I did read AT&T will start charging users to use FaceTime over the cellular network. Verizon won't. I definitely will be ditching AT&T this fall.

I also read that but there is some political wording happening. My uncle works for Verizon and I asked him to shed some light on this topic. He said Verizon will be charging for Facetime over the 3G/4G network just like AT&T, but Verizon customers who had unlimited data packages with previous phones are grandfathered in and they are not charged. Not charged thoguht becuase they are unlimited. New customers will be limited to a 10GB package. Granted he admitted Verizon has changed their story about plans being offered in the past and it may happen again. AT&T does the same thing. I'm a customer of their's and they state I have unlimited texting and data. I do have unlimited data since I have been grandfathered in from the first generation iPhone to the 3G, and 4. And with iMessages I bascially have unlimited texting as long as I send iMessages. But if I send over 2500 texts (not including iMessages), then I get charged. I'll never compalin about this though because if I send over 2500 anything in a month, I need to get a life!

So after a week with new APIM tonight I got a blank screen and nothing happened for about 5 minutes. Radio played, DIC displayed Entertainment Selection and station, but black screen on MFT.

Then the Microsoft "Performing scheduled maintenance" screen and everything came back.

So I guess the verdict is that when you get a new APIM the issues are still software related.

Remote start is still very poor too, have to be 10ft from vehicle to get contact.

Most of the issues folks are having will be in a future software update. Radio staying on, unknown caller on MFT screen but showing on right small screen, GPS with circle and x after short time into trip (can actually be resolved now by unplugging GPS module for 5 minutes because it is confused after the update), among other issues. Most are software related and not hardware at this point, in my own opinion (based on actual experience).
