Sync Update: A Disappointing Experience!!

I'm not sure if you can assist me, as it seems Ford itself is unclear about the situation.

I bought a 2023 Ford Explorer a month ago. During my recent inspection, they updated my Sync system without explanation. I've been trying to update it via Wi-Fi since then, but let's just forget about it!
I tried via USB,
first, top on the screen it said,
"Sync 3 detected"
After,
"Indexing Sync 3"
Then,
"Indexing Sync 3 complete"
But nothing is completed?
However, the update doesn't seem to complete. I've already formatted the USB drive and on the end I did a master reset.

I'm checking on ford.ca, my account it says, update available wow!

When using map navigation for addresses, my phone's GPS says to turn left, but the car's system says to turn right.

Some folks recommend disabling Wi-Fi auto-update. What's the reasoning behind this? If it's a bad feature, shouldn't Ford remove it?

When I call Ford support, I get different information from each representative. One person says something, and then I hang up. When I call again, someone else gives me different information.

Some people claim that the Sync update is covered under warranty. Some others say Non!

I really thinking to exchange it with the Mitsubishi!!!!🤔

All I need is a simple update, not a trip to the moon! 🤦🏻‍♀️

You have the newest update 23188. The reason to turn off automatic updates is that it does not work well most of the time. I dount there will ever be an update to SYNC 3 again. As for the map I quit using it and instead use Google maps with android auto.

Just ignore what they say about a SYNC update. Others have reported the same as you.
You could update the map but you need to pay for it. To me it's not worth the money. It is a choice that you need to make.
But forget about the SYNC. And make sure to turn off the auto update.

I find it amazing how bad the OTA updates are for the 2020+ Explorers. Ours worked once, ever since I have been purchasing pre-loaded USB sticks from Ford to do the updates with. Using my own USB stick led me to issues like what you are experiencing.

I don't really understand what are you complaining about?
SYNC 3 is abandoned (obsolete) system and unlikely to be updated ever again. Maps updates are still released every year, you can either buy them from Ford or install them for free using reformat utility.
People suggesting to disable Auto Updates just because they never really worked for majority of owners.
SYNC v3.4 23188 is the latest update and just ignore Ford website.
