Hello,

On Thanksgiving day went to parallel park and smashed into a protruding tree stump. Tailight cover cracked and some very minor body damage. The body damage consists of the metal just below the cover being bent so that the light cover cant be snapped into place without some minor work. Should I bend this back into place with a rubber mallet? I would need to bang down on it in order to get the light cover fit again however it is extrememly minor such that fitting the cover back in would only need some malleting in my opinion with no real noticable body damage. The internal components (bulb, housing etc.) are not damaged.

Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to replace the light cover on a 2001 Sport?

Where do I get a stock rear light cover without too much hassle?

Any archives on the replacement procedure and/or link to buying the cover would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Okay for starters the tail light should be replaced as the assembly. You cant get just the lenz. Or cover as you call it. Replacing the light is cake. Two phillips screws and pull straight back.

As far as the body work it is a tough call. If you can post a photo I can answer much more accurately. A rubber mallet is for the most part a useless tool in body repair. The metal just below the tail light is rather thin. A pair of gloved hands can do more good than a hammer.

I am going to move this to the body work section so others may be able to learn from it there.

I have broken it twice. Once bought it from ford dealership, 60 bucks. And online on ebay i just bought one for 10 bucks and 8 dollars shipping. Its very easy to replace.
