Tail Light Guards

Tempted to order a set of these tail light guards from PartsTrain.com

It says 2001 ST's however, they should all be the same, yes?

I believe their ad is incorrect. Elsewhere they are listed for regular Explorers and/or Sport in which case they will not fit the Sport Trac of ANY year.

Here is the shape of a Sport Trac tail light guard.

I called Westin earlier in the year, and they have discontinued their tail light guards. If I recall the only company right now that makes tail light guards are WAAG and Steelcraft. And with Steelcraft you have to buy 10 or more in an order for them to put an order through.

Just my 2 cents. Has anyone heard otherwise?

Every time this has come up in the past year, people order these things and find out that the description was wrong and they do not fit our trucks. As soon as somebody confirms that they've found actual Sport Trac guards, I will consider buying them. Until then, I just say "buyer beware."

the link i left specified that they were for 01-05 sport tracs. dont know how accurate this claim is, but thats what it says.

I've been looking for just plain Sport light guards, any leads on these? everywhere I look , the poor sport is left out and forgotten for the sport trac

Its easier to find Explorer Sport light guards than Sport Trac light guards. Correct me if Im wrong but the Sport has the same lights as the Explorer... and those guards are everywhere

I'm assuming you guys are getting confused on the subject due to the sport being the same as the non sport in earlier year models - and them being different in later year models.


the picture you posted, govna, is an 02 explorer. 01s look like the 1995-2001 (gen2) explorer.

I guess that means you have the sport which looks like this -

In that case, I couldn't find any that matched your body style's tail lights... that doesn't mean they aren't out there, though!!

yeah, exactly. there is one sport in my town with light guards and i asked where he got them and he said that they were there when he bought the truck >_<
But as for everything else, the Sports just seem to be really overlooked by manufacturers in many cases. Yes, parts ARE out there, it's just difficult to find in a decent price range
