i have an iPod which i play through my factory tape player with a cassette adapter. however, the sound only comes out on one side and i know it is the tape. it seems i have always had a problem with the tape player playing sound only on the driver's side. the radio and my FM modulator CD changer all play through all 4 speakers. any easy fix (if there is one) for this?

if it is indeed the tape player itself, I can't think of a cheap and/or easy solution. Maybe some sort of tape player cleaner?

I agree with Alec. Try a tape demagnetizer as well as a tape cleaner. If this does not remedy the situation, you are going to have to replace the tape deck. Or, if you are only interested in playing tunes from your iPod, they sell a wireless FM modulator that brodcasts over your Fm radio(Like a minature radio station). However this does not provide as good a sound as the tape adapter.

It is in the tape head alignemnt.
Cleaing it may help.
Some casette adaptors come with a little switch that moves the head slightly, that would be your ticket.
Casette heads have at least two ( left and right ) parts that read the programed material. The two heads are not meeting evenly so some of the program is missing.

Hardwire it into your car. My friends brother did that with his Audi, and my friend plans on doing it to his X as well.
