Tell Me The Truth Is A 3" Body Lift As Bad As They Say?

The E-brake needs to be moved, some ground straps, the fan shroud, & as 410 said other lines & heater hoses etc look stressed. If you have a 5 speed the shifter needs to be moved. I saw a 94 with a 3" bl to see up close what needed to be done.
Not saying it's a bad thing I just didn't want to deal with it & I had 2" already that cleared my 31's.

None of those are "lines" I do know what goes into doing the 3 inch on both first gens and second gens, I have done several.

IFS lift Vs Body lift
body lift doen't raise COG as much as suspension lift (only body is lifted, suspension stays the same)
Body lift is less then 10% the cost of a suspension lift
both clear larger tires
same ground clearance because the IFS lift still lowers the front driveshaft to keep CV angles
Suspension lift gives better rake angle - body doesn't change it
Bodylift cons already stated - Suspension lift cons...new front driveshaft higher COG

well on some suspension lifts..... it really doesnt change your suspension at all, simply spaces it out from the frame, so in reality why does it matter if the space is between the frame and suspension or the frame and the body, if your not a serious wheeler, looking for every 1/8 inch of flex and ground clearance, do the body lift..... you will love it!

Rookie you are right in saying that hoses and etc.. that are referenced do not need to be extended. However they were on enough of a bind to disturb an **** retentive little freak like me, so I lengthened what looked stressed. As I said it is still ongoing as I continue to discover areas that provide me with mild concern.

no the 2" actually is not as bad as the 3"
The 3" is realyl not bad, just adds the steering extension, shifter extension for 5 speeds, etc.

A 4" would be bad, this is why they stop at 3"

A 3" body lift with an extra $300-$500 invested could be made to work very well. Out of the box, it has its quirks.

This man speaks the truth, everyone says bumpers suck, but i did mine in bout 30 mins including trip to buy a few bolts. Front bracket i made, wasnt hard with a little die grinder and cut off wheel action, also like he said, you will need to grind the rear bumper where the bracket will hit, most people say do 2" its easier, but if you doing this why not do 3", youll want that extra inch later, The steering extension isnt hard. You will need to purchase the shifter extension seperatly.

One thing ide suggest, if the frames rusted, or really dirty, take a wire bursh(i used a wire brush cup on my angle grinder)leaned it up, and spray painted it, with black paint, makes the frame not stick out so much

I don't know about you guys but I don't like the look of a bodylift anymore and now that I have a suspension lift I canbare without the bodylift. I'm just having difficltlties removing the bodylift cause its rusted and the bodybolts are breaking on me. It also makes your explorer wonder a bit more cause of a somewhat lost in balace the bodylifts give.
