I had viewed and eventually joined this site while shopping for a daily driver '91-'94 Explorer. Last winter was the first and last winter I spent without a 4x4. I previously have owned a fullsize Blazer and a 4Runner which died and left me with a chained up econowagon for the winter.

Thanks for all the warnings and tips that I gleaned from hours of reading. I passed on several vehicles before finding what I consider an almost perfect used Explorer. Original owner, only serviced at the dealer, engine sounds like new, absolutely stock, garaged most of it's life with not a hint of rust, and only 113,000 on the odometer. Oh, and from reading the 1" thick folder of all paperwork, the owner took it into the dealer for everything from a check engine light (new MAF) to a loose door handle.

In the week I've owned it I've fixed the throttle cable slack, recharged the A/C and changed out alternator, idler pulley, tensioner and belt to be on the safe side. All but the belt were original.

Just wanted to thank everyone whose posts I have used.

Welcome to this forum! You could now answer questions from other people with similar issues. It's good to know how to fix things yourself. Some people get intimidated when they see something unfamiliar, and are hesitant to repair it themself.

...Nice Explorer...:biggthump
