Heath and I were busy this morning, I think those are some pretty tough looking tires, can't wait to get out and break that d30

Looks good... Now come and figure out whats wrong with The Bus would you... :D

you told me you were going to take it to an expert, im certainly not that. btw check out Rookieshooters thread, I think he just called me a carrot snapper damn him!

picked up a new tow rig, haha jk its for the wife, we found out we are adding our 4th (and final hopefully) kid so we need more room, we had some cash to put down and traded in the subaru. I looked at quite a few vehicles, couple tahoes, denalis, and 2 monteros, I was gonna be damned if i bought a minivan. in the end the ford man in me won out and we picked up this 04 expedition, explorers big brother.

pulling the tcase out of the bdos this afternoon, I have all my vehicle related chores done so now its on to the toy again, its probably going to be down for quite some time, im picking up steel here in a few days to start the boatsides and rollcage so its going to get some major surgery.

4th kid, I guess congratulations are in order.
That B2 just keeps getting better and better each time i see it. Those tires are awsome BTW. That X is super sharp looking, wish I had it.

If your not from Utah just where are you from? That is unless your on a witness protection program no need responding.

lol thanks yeah we didn't really plan this kid but you know how it goes. we live in Idaho, southeast idaho about 2 hrs from yellowstone park etc, great place to live, you need to come out and wheel with us.

yeah the tires were a screamin deal, they are a little worn but they are about 3/4 tread id say. The expedition is pretty nice, its not the eddie bauer edition but it has more gizmos than our old subaru did, and people wont mistake me for a granola eater anymore either haha.

so I bribed my brother with a tall can of coors and he came out and helped me pull the tcase on the bII so I could get started on the doubler. it was out in about an hour and I started mock assembling them to see where the plate needs trimmed and holes drilled. the shaft that Rick C made from me dropped right in there and lines everything up. ive got hope this thing is actually going to work. here are a couple pics;

go the shift shaft cut down, just need to mark and drill a hole for it to sit in and I can assemble the whole thing, im glad to have the trs article to go off of bk the way it bolts together is complicated. I think at some point im going to have to figure out how to add fill and drain holes in the doubler unit. In the article they just filled the doubler case before they assembled the rest of the unit, not sure I like that, guess I need to know how often you are supposed to service the tcase in these. im thinking this isn't going to be all that hard, just need to take my time and ill be crawling before I know it.

I sure hope that works out for ya, cause your going to be one upset carrot peeler or was it eater?
Just take it easy for awhile with it. At least until you get a stronger front axle.
Then wheel it like you stole it now that you got couple recovery trucks.

Doubler

Glad to see your doubler going forward, think I'd make that fill plug a priority before assembly...big enough to run a suction tube through. Also vent.

I wish the TRS guys showed what they were wheelin'...if their only using it in the malls, hay fields or actually climbing granite, you and the one guy who broke the T.case housing, are the only ones I know of who actually have or will tackle big rock. So I tip my hat to your best efforts!!

Oh yeah wheels and meats are sweet.

Question??

Hey Jon what length did you cut the 4 door exploder springs to, or if it's easier how far back from the eyelet did you cut? When you say flexs pretty good how much are we talking here...10",12" or more total? I'm really asking if you eliminate restricting factors such as body panels, tire height, track bar and shock length limitations how much theoretical cycle is available? Don't go to a lot of trouble on this an educated guess is fine as I can quickly build a spring set and cycle it...just like to get your input first as I had another brain farc (probably mis-spelled that one) or maybe just a brain stroke...dunno. Thanks

i just cut them off about 2in back from the eyelet, enough to give them some room to flex but almost full length so I had enough support in there to get the desired ride height. Ive got JK shocks on the back and I think im pretty shock limited, conservatively Id say its prob capable of 11-12" of travel, the rear keeps up with my front as is and im pretty flexy up there. maybe ill go unhook the shock in the back on one side and use the hi-lift on there to see how much flex I can get.

haha carrot snapper. I think the d30 is going to hold up fairly well, its got 760x ujoints in it which is the same as your d44, admittedly it does have 27 spline shafts but its open, and we all know I drive very carefully :burnout:

that being said I am looking to pick up a wagoneer 44 housing in the next few days, complete with mounts for an xj welded on to it so it should bolt right in for me. it doesn't have any diff parts or axle shafts or knuckles but what better time to fill it with quality parts right? offered the guy 75 bucks, we shall see what he says.

once again the add got the better of me

I was trying to nicely take the glass out and it broke, so I threw a hammer and the other side broke, then I got the sawzall out haha. funny how you can dramatically alter your vehicle in less than 2 hrs.

Glass breakage

Now your talkin, chopped, sliced and diced, sawz all rocks & BFH strikes again...startin' to be a serious toy now...hope the heater works and Spring gets there soon! How long you been dying to do the chop? :salute:looks super already.
