Take pics of where you install that filter please.

I also have to wonder if Damperdudes could re-balance that damper to 28oz for @vroomzoomboom if the current road he's on becomes roadblocked.
Looks like a nice unit.

Nice new parts.

I like that balancer, but it's for the stock arrangement. Tim has a four bolt piece, which I'd guess is how his custom 7" pulley bolts on. I prefer the old type(four bolt) also, for better cross over to Mustang pulleys(Tim had the stock 94/95 Cobra pulley, and I have that for my 347).

Hi Dono

I was going to install the filter on the power steering. I'm still pondering where though.

I would think whatever can be done to the OEM balancer would work for the PowerBond.

I wonder if Powerbond themselves could modify a few for you stroker guys? There has to be at least one Aussie down there with a 347 in his XR8...

I've seen some enticing pictures of the Aussie SBF's. I like their accessory setup too. It's similar to ours, but theirs are made for cars, a bit shorter down on the engine. I thought about trying to find their two brackets, but it would also require the same PS pump and compressor, maybe alternator(3G versus our 4G). I'm going to see if our front dress will fit in my Lincoln first, under the hood.

Here's the Aussie 302 brackets and PS pump, and my 347 still on a jack stand.

Here's a picture that Tim posted of his blower pulley, and the Cobra pulley that he was using. Both bolt to the balancer he has, so I think he needs to stay with the four bolt type. I wish there was a higher performance unit that's 28oz with the trigger wheel, ready to buy and go. I don't know what they have in Australia, I wonder if theirs are 50oz or what.

I wish we had their degas setup.

Could you fit the tone ring on the back of this one?

Your motor looks great!

I wish we could, but I think that weight on the back would interfere with the adapter that the trigger wheel has to be mounted to. I could see some difficult work their for a machinist. They would have to mount a steel adapter ring where the imbalance weight is, cutting into it enough to mount the adapter piece. If they had to cut that existing metal at all, that would upset the balance, and then it would need to be re-balanced, which isn't a common shop process.

I need to take some measurements of the stock balancer, to know what the distance is for the trigger wheel, from the hub back end. That will help to possibly contact some brands to ask them what is there on their models of SBF balancer.

Do you like their radiator etc? I've thought of using the 96-04 Mustang radiator and overflow bottle for my Lincoln, but I'm not sure I like the way you have to fill them(and wait for the engine to warm and circulate coolant when first filled).

Can't fit the tone ring over the counter weight and just tack it right to the steel balancer? I assume you need that mounting plate because they're cast?

The OEM trigger wheel is aluminum. The one you pictured kind of looks like steel(with drilled holes for lightening). If it was steel, I could see trying to carefully attach it to an existing balancer weight. That would sound almost ideal, if the weld was done right and the trigger wheel was located properly. It isn't a structural component, nothing touches it at all.

Check out your new balancer again, is that thing steel? I noticed they said it was a real steel balancer, and not cast iron. That can be welded to, but it'd have to be minimal and carefully done. Interesting thought though, hmm.

I don't like that part either but I do like how they have the line coming off the upper radiator hose to the reservoir and that the reservoir is higher than the engine. Reminds me of the Cobra R's degas system.

Heater core, egr and upper rad hose are where air bubbles get trapped on ours since they are the "high spots", as you know.

Thanks for that report about the steel trigger wheel. That might be the best route to take to make a balancer. I'll try to work towards that project soon, when I get to installing my 347, which should be in couple three months.

That WP Flowkooler brand I recall when it first came out. There were originally kits you could buy to attach a round plate to the existing impellers. I think I might have even bought one.

I can't wait to see it Don and I'm glad I could help!

Wish I would have seen that flowkooler before I putting the motorcraft on.

Wish I would have seen that flowkooler sooner because it would be on cent right now. I'm not about to do that job again though, and I even have the front torn apart! 2 pumps in a year is enough for me.

I'm now just waiting on my hookup for a new-take-off cam syncro and sensor. I'll wait a week to save $100, I'm cheap like that!

:chug:

Good get, those are the best kind of parts. I had some extra Explorer parts given to me from a guy racing the Explorer 302. He didn't need most of the external parts, and he gave me the wiring harness and plug wires, EGR/intake elbow, and the cam synchronizer. My cam synchro was squealing about four months ago, and I used that low mileage part to fix it. I have a new one for my 347, but I'm on the lookout for more spare parts if I can get back to the JY.

I'm glad to see another top end choice for a WP, Ford's been the best choice until that. Thanks,

Lovely new parts, great brands too. I love the Magnecor wires, I've had them for about ten years now. How much were the Ford coil packs? I've considered other brands, but after a bad Accel coil, I think I'd go with the Screamin Deamin(I have the V6 coil) or Motorcraft.

Great finds, the coils I hadn't thought of until today. I have two of the synchro's for projects, and should need one more of the three wire(96-98). I'd love to get so far as to do a 351C/W(Clevor) and use the Explorer system on that. My Ranchero needs a lot of work if I ever get to it again.
