So i was driving through the parking lot today in my dads Ridgeline and i saw this at first i thought it was a regular 1995-1997 explorer due to the hatch but then i looked at the running boards and saw that it had a cargo box type thing on top, also the front bumper was all one piece (no valance) and had round fogs instead of square...turns out it said Centaurus on the back in ford explorer lettering and had round coverings over the key holes...just thought it was weird heres pics from my phone

Centaurus is probably the dealer name. From what i've seen on cars sold in the mid-west the dealers like to put their name on the car. If I am wrong than someone please correct me.

Dealers never put their name on cars here in so cal.

There is one of those in Moline, Kansas-It is a maroon color combination.

here's another I googled up-

I don't care for the high roof so much, however the side lights are cool-

No actually it was a van conversion kit that was done in Indiana i guess it heightens the roof in the middle puts a larger overhead console in the front and puts a TV and VCR where the middle was probably a premium sound system somwhere oh and adds wood grain trim heres some links

Oh I see, now that there are some clearer pics. Looks weird...should have gotten an Excursion if they wanted a taller roof.

You mean there are places where dealer's DON'T put their name on the cars?

(I live in Louisiana and can't think of any car dealer here that doesn't do that, it's also common as dirt in neighboring states, too)

Well here in southern California people dont like the look of dealers names on the car so the dealers dont put them on....ever. If anything most people take all the emblems off the new car. It looks awesome, I plan on taking all my body emblems off when I get it painted.

I wish they did that here.

Ha that looks like a prototype expedition or excursion kinda cool..One time on the road i saw a f-250 with 3 sets of doors and an extended bed it was awesome i pulled up to it and it was a woman she gave me a nasty look...ha but looks hard on gas two gas tanks i know this is common in some of the big rigs though in the past

We never said we liked it... but they do it to us anyway. :p:

I always hair-dryer/heatgun the lettering off my new cars. I hate that. Problem is that you really can't do it on older cars, because the paint fades and on some colors you can still see it. I've seen some newer cars "level" out the paint and after you pull the stickers off, the paint actually lifts to a 3D level. What a pain.

I remember when they used to charge a "marketing and sales fee" by us, and my dad said "is that marketing fee paying for the plate frames and stickers that you're puuting on my new car?" to which the guy said "probably" and my dad said "well, take that off there. Since your stickers and plate frames won't last 5 minutes once I get home, you don't have to even put them on.

LOL!

it's just an aftermarket conversion... hi top Minivans and SUVs were very popular around 96-98. They still do SUV conversions today... Look up Southern Comfort Conversions. IMO, they are the best.

Indeed, it's just a conversion van's take on an SUV... Centaurus, Centurion, and a number of other manufacturers based out of Elkhart, Indiana likely...
