2003 Ford Explorer
I have encountered a problem that has given me a ton of grief.

I have a 2003 ford explorer (V6 4.0L) that started to idle very rough, gas milage dropped noticeably, and the check engine light came on. I figured it was a vacuum leak so I ran the codes and they also read vacuum leak. I've looked for the leak several times using carb cleaner, I can hear a hiss near the throttle body so I have an idea of its general location but I cannot pinpoint it. Today I tried the Scotty Kilmer method and saw smoke coming out of the TB. It looked like it was coming out of the neck that holds the cable and all that. So I started the car and sprayed the area with carb cleaner but saw no noticible RPM change. I'm now about ready to drive the darn thing into a lake. Anyone ever had a similar problem or any suggestions on what I should do next?
