The New Rig!

There's been a lot of different tasks here and there for the 350 since last time I updated. Had a bout of death wobble for a while. I was able to trace it to a bad track bar bushing. Again. I replaced it with a Moog bushing last October and apparently the rubber came apart from the outer metal sleeve and could no longer do its job. Long story short, I got a poly bushing from Energy suspension (they list it only fits 05-07, but it fits any coil sprung Super Duty so 05-16) and we will see if this is the root cause of my problem. The truck only just turned 125k coming back from my trip to Uwharrie so I wouldnt think too much would be worn out as far as hubs, etc. Anyway, here's a shot as we crossed back into SC:

Looking awesome man :-)

Thanks!

Now I need to chase down an issue with my mirror marker lamps. They keep blowing the fuse. Started last year, kept blowing the 5A fuse. Finally I put in a 10A fuse just to see what happened and they worked for a long time. One day a couple weeks ago, the 10A fuse blew. I have a feeling it's a frayed wire in the mirror (power telescoping and folding) or in the door bundle, but won't have the time for a couple more weeks to really look at it. The turn signals work just fine, only the running lights are messed up (ironically they work in my most recent picture above).

Looks like it's a frayed wire inside the sealed mirror housing only way to really solve it looks to be fishing all new wore through. But I found an easy temp fix is to just pop the lights off and shift the wires around.

Finally got some new shoes on the truck. Toyo Open Country AT2s in 295/65-20s. They come out to be almost 1/2" taller than their 35s and about an inch narrower. Plus they have higher load and speed ratings than 35x12.50s. No rubbing lock to lock, forward or reverse even with the mudflaps, so I'm definitely happy with them.

This past week I installed Blazer's rear ID light usually found on duallies. I've always liked the look and as much as I'm driving it won't hurt to have a couple more lights with all the idiots on the road.

Today I spent all day washing vehicles and got the truck all shined up again.

What's the name of this site again? :D

Hey it's in the tow rig section lol

Ended up selling my old steps to get the newer 6" angle cut steps that are actually flat across the top so you can step out anywhere. Next up are some new wheel bearings. Here's to hoping they aren't seized in there too badly.

Kind of liked the no steps look, but it was such a pain getting in and out every day.

Once again, the Trac is getting over looked in favor of the 350. Ended up having to replace the thermostats last weekend after the truck through a code. I'd been noticing the heat didn't seem to be that great in the morning on the way to work, but never put 2 and 2 together. Not too bad of a job, but it was extremely nice to have help with some smaller hands to get into some of the tighter spots. $35 in parts and I was back on the road. Spent the whole previous week driving the Trac 125mi to work everyday who handled it like a champ.

As you can see the rubber seals on both t-stats had failed and allowed coolant to pass through.
