I just bought a 2006 with powered third row seats. Luckily, my seats both work but in reading posts on the subject it may only be a matter of time before they don't.
Indications are that it is a plastic gear that breaks inside the seat motor assy and that Ford does not supply one. They make you buy a whole new motor assy for some $200+.
Some enterprising individual should make the gear on a 3D printing machine. It should be simple enough if you have or have access to a 3D printer. You could probably even make it out of tougher material.
