Ive learned some much from Brian!

Thank You!!!!

Yep, he is good, if not the best when it comes to Ford products on Youtube.
South Main Auto is my next favorite.

So far that was the easy part :), get the engine out.

Tech - is it really that complicated once you have the engine out ?

The whole job sucks, but the attention to detail timing, and my personal favorite, lining up the puzzle that is the upper pan/cradle gasket without having it leak are probably the worst.

Lol I watched it last night can't wait to see the rest of the series

The tips and tricks

I also love SMA and I cant wait for the other 3 videos.... not that I will ever tackle this job....

Boy oh boy the latter casting sure is a lot easier to deal with the front cassette. there is probably an extra quarter inch so everything slides in and out easily. Not sure why he pulled the rockers and the cams either. save yourself another 100 bucks not having to buy the spring compressor tool. I also replaced the gears, just because of the chance of wear from the chains. Threw in a a new oil pump too, just in case it picked up some garbage. Other than that it all looks quite familiar.

I was wondering why he pulled the cams to
But I'm sure he will show us for sure
I can't wait to see #3 &4

What a job ....
I was also wondering about the cams, I guess we'll see.
It looks much more complicated that Cloyes video.
Not sure I want to do that when time comes, re-manufactured unit looks really good right now :)

Remanufactured is the route I took just make sure the warranty is 100 k 3 years it's so nice to have a warranty

Donalds -

where did you get your motor from ?

I agree with the comments about being surprised that he pulled the cams. Never seen that done in other videos or heard anyone advise it being necessary for timing cassettes replacement. He's doing an real interesting job and this really looks to be really detailed plus helpful for those whom aren't afraid of a challenge. I choose an used 4.0 SOHC Mustang engine replacement (51k mileage) and so far it's been great.:)

Mic -

Do you have a 4wd model ?
Mustang unit comes without the balance shaft. I read that it still can be used in 4wd applications, just want to confirm with someone who did that.

Yes, I do have an 4wd. Mustang engine was the best value plus cheaper since many yards have newer wrecked Mustangs with the 4.0.

Thanks !!!
The question remains why they have it in the first place. I bet you can't tell the difference if you are driving a 4.0 with BS or without it.
But there must be some engineering reason for that.
Anybody guess ?
