Does anybody know the "average" cost of a timing belt job on a 99 XLT from a dealer or shop?
I can't find much information regarding that question on this specific vehicle.

I'm sure this job is beyond my capability and it seems that it is a 3-5 hr. job at least.

I have yet to hack up my motor and could always use some DIY advise and/or links for future use,
maybe this one too if its simple enough.

I am aware of the consequences if were to do it myself, improperly, that's why I may choose not to.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Well, its good to know I'm retarded.
No wonder I can't find anything on the subject.

Assuming made an ass of me. Ha.

Oh yeah don't worry, these trucks don't have a pos engine like honda's do that require a $1k maintaince job every 70k miles...

There is only cause ofr concern if your timing chain is making noise.

he might mean serpentine belt

that should be the only belt on the truck

my 5.0 cost $60 when i had it done, but i could have killed myself when i figured out how easy it was

maybe ... but he mentioned 3-5 hours... for what is a 15 min task. Anyways, I think he might have been coming from a "4 banger" where most people get their "timing belt experience".

Good call Bud...an old Audi S4 actually, but close.

I mix up terms sometimes, sorry about the newb post everyone.
I'm sure it is the Serpentine that I meant to say. Hopefully it goes well for me, I'll be looking up how to do it.
Much thanks!
