Hiya

Can anyone help??????? I have just renewed the front timing chains and tensioners on my 1998 explorer I have put it all back together when I turn the car over it pops back through the airbox. I have stripped the right hand rocker cover off and turned the cam shaft 180 degrees now after checking the timing after several turns it is approx 3-5 degrees out each time could anybody explain what I have done wrong.

Is it possible that I have the cogs on the wrong way round??

Thanks Mark

Howdy Mark!
Welcome to the forums-I'm sure there will be an answer here shortly--
Sorry, I myself have never tackled this repair.

I have moved this into the stock 95-01 forum, I think it will be answered quicker here--

I recently replaced all four timing chains on my ’98 SOHC. The original Ford Workshop Manual cam timing proceedure is incorrect. Did you follow the revised cam timing proceedure in Technical Service Bulletin 01M01? Are you using the the OTC 6488 or 6489 cam timing tool kit to reset the timing of both cams?
