Since purchasing my 08 explorer in June my sensor warning comes on about every 15 miles when driving a consistent speed. It goes away when putting it it in lark or turning off then key. The suv had brand new tires installed by the dealer.
The dealer has re-calibrated all the sensors multiple times and reprogrammed the computer and module but no luck. The reprogramming took 6 hours! 15 miles down the road on a rest drive, sensor came back on. I asked them to change out the band sensor but they refused due to the cost and the fact that they where calibrating am responding . So I took it to Les Schwab (at my cost) who changed them out for the valve stem sensors. I drove over 50 miles sensor free however, after fifteen miles at a consistent highway speed the sensor went off again. The dealer (a Ford Dealer) is stumped as is Ford Technical Services. Anyone have any ideas? Can this system be disabled? I have logged outside daily temps to see if it made a difference but it does not.

after 15 miles, does it go away? what is the speed? do these have a specific reading? like some will tell you 32 psi for example

What wheel sensor brand used?

Tpms calibration shouldt take 6 hours.it is a 20 minutes job.

Anyways

If chinese noname sensors are used, replace to VDO or something similar and recalibrate the system.

Sensors coild be replaced at any suitable tire shop and the calibration is a DIY job.

If concern still present comeback here

sorry for the delayed response but i was locked out of my account. no the sensor does not go away until i turn off the car. speed varies but is over 45mph and has to be steady . can drive in stop and go traffic endlessly and it wont come on. oitside temp does not matter. have tried all psi from rec low to high per ford and tire manufacturer. new valvestem sensors installed and factory band sensors removed. sensors sync up and show as working. in all cases.
