Ok you logistics wizards, I need to save a buck because I am a cheap SOB. I am looking at buying a set of tires from Matt Adams in Littleton Colorado and getting them to me in LaCrosse, WI. Coincedentally there is this girl I know who is traveling back to Littleton Colorado currently, and then plans on hopping on a Greyhound to go back to Minneapolis MN. What I was thinking is there anyway that she could possibly be the carrier for cheaper than the cost of

a greyhound ticket+the cost of shipping four 33" tires+packaging

say in such a vehicle as a rental car or a uhaul van that would have a one way drop? So far a Ryder cube van would be too large and cost $350 for 2 days and there is no budget rental car in Littleton that has one way so I need to get a plan or maybe just ship them, there just seems to be a better way I just need to find it.

Oh yeah one other thing, Matt Adams quickest reply was when I told him it involved two 21 year old chicks coming over to his house:eek:

Actually it might not be too bad going ups motor freight. Check out ups.com. I shipped some big stuff that way, and it wasn't that bad

Check out what Grayhound would charge for shipping. I've heard they are cheap.

Dannyboy, call the airlines, see if they'll check tires as luggage. Hell they check ski's, bicycles, everything else, tell them this is your hobby and you want to bring em with you where you go :).

Try www.forwardair.com and see if there is a terminal near where you live because they don't deliver, just terminal to terminal. Put them all on a pallet. It should be pretty cheap, it might even meet the requirements for their minimum of $45 to ship them.

Thanks Brian, too bad none of their 75 terminals are anywhere near Matt or I. BTW I checked out your rock crawler project, Looks great, how is that coming along

Matt I will call the airlines and see or else I will look for the cheapest fare, what is your ZIP code?

actually, I've found FED EX ground to be cheapest. I've done a few tires with them before. A set of 4 tires from South Texas to me in MI was only 80 bucks, not too bad.

Last time I worked on it was in January but I am still collecting parts, thats how I found out about forward air. When I get on my December break from college, I will work on it and try to get the chassis rolling.

If I were you Dan, I'd call UPS and FedEx to get the price instead of asking non Fedex/UPS employees what the shipping cost is.

BTW, if I may ask, how much are you paying for these tires? Take in account the price of the tire, the cost to ship them and the cost per tire to mount and balance. May be close to new tire costs.

It's just my opinion, but I think buying and then shipping used tires is a waste of money.

Just my .02 as ugly as it is.....

Matt, these have half of their tread life and Matt wants $150 so its not like I have a lot at stake. I can get them mounted for nothing. All thing considered I can barely call it a waste, just looking to save a few bucks on shipping and what the hell I dont have a lot invested to try out a set of rubber for a while. Thanks though I understand your point quite well.

Mr Fixit, you struck me again. Now after looking at these pics I wonder if I should can the idea and put the cash towards a new set. I dont mind the looks of my truck right now but want 33's yesterday, but am seriously considering Goodyear MTR's.
The tires Dead Link Removed
What do you think oh wise one?

Danny, I told you how you could lower the price of the tires, ROFL.

Just get Matt's until you have money for the Goodyear's.

Danny, no... although they typically don't recommend changing the way its mounted after a while, but I think you should have no problem.

OK well I will go with "Matt Adams" and disregard "they" so you can be liable and give me a big warranty for this? Just kidding, I think I can sell my 32's to a guy for the price you are selling me yours and that way I they will be big now, but also in need of replacement in the nearer future to get the MTR's
