I just tried to order a set of 31x10.50x15 Kumho Venture MT's to go on some rock crawlers from Tirerack.com. They called me this morning and said they can't process the order because they can only sell Ford approved sizes for this type of vehicle. 2000 XLT 4x4. I think it may be a liability issue.
I then tried to find out what vehicle this tire will fit to order under that vehicle. Unfortunately, he wouldn't give me that information. These tires seem to get good reviews and are only $83. Does anybody know another place to get these tires? Or what vehicle to order them under to avoid their liability? I suppose I could go to a local dealer, Tirerack just seems to have the best prices. Thanks all. AnT

Some of the older S10s and ZR2 Blazers (2-dr) had 31s as stock. They might also sell them to you if you tell them you have a Jeep? Never say you have an Explorer when ordering from Tirerack -- unless you want stock size and load rating.

Thanks, I just looked up a 2002 Chevy Blazer 4x4 2dr and their OEM was a31x10.50x15. That'll work. Thanks

This happens alot. When I bought my tires locally, the guy asked if they were going on my Explorer. I thought oh no here we go again, and told him yeah. He was like cool, how much lift you gonna do, never seen a lifted explorer... I like local shops

You may not be able to order from them now. I have heard stories here of people who have been kinda "blacklisted" when they try to order a different size tire for Explorers. When they try to order the same tires for a different vehicle, tirerack won't allow them to do it. Tirerack realizes what you are trying to do.

This is just what I have heard tho.................

You may want to call all your local tire shops and see if they carry Kumhos. I know of two local dealers here that have them.

I went to my local Tireware house and they had no problem putting on my 31's. I am not lifted. he said he would put on what ever i wanted, he didn't much care.

discount tire didnt question me either...in fact, the guy behind the counter complimented me on the truck and showed me his lifted dodge ram on 33s.

Its true you can't beat their prices. They stock their tires like crazy so they could afford to sell 'em cheap. Larry, the sales rep there @ ext 221, explained it to me. The more customer orders a particular model and size the lower the prize gets next time around.

In your case, just have a friend call for you and tell them its for a Ranger. I bought from them before and it was a pleasant experience. No hassle or anything. But then again it was for a Rav4 and for a Caravan. When I get around shopping for my Explorer's wheels I will probably use the Ranger as the decoy.

I just checked on my order and it has been released to the warehouse for shipping. Should be here in a few days. This weekend coming up, I'm going to AAL, Warrioir Shackle, TT, put on 31x10.50x15 on some Rock Crawlers. I'll post some pics after the transformation. Can't wait. AnT
