Anyone have problems with the tirerack? this post is long winded so only read it if you want to.
8 Mos ago, I ordered four Moda 7 wheels, and four Kumho tires, all shipped to one of there 5 star installers in my area, all arives, I go down to get the install done, 80 bucks additional, all four rims are badley bent, no packaging damage, they call tirerack, explaine the problem, tirerack overnights 4 new rims, a plus for them, great service, back down to the 5 star tirerack rated installer, 3 rims are perfect, one is slightly bent, send it out and get it made right, 40 bucks, my cost, just want to roll, the deed is done, am happy, happy, next morn, all 4 tires are near flat, fire up the compressor, fill the tires, all the stems (metal) are leaking, call the 5 star tirerack installer, this is on a friday, says sorry, we cannot get you in till tuesday next.
Okay, I tighten the stems as they have external nuts, all is well, for a short time.
Have more stem leaks, take it down to wheelworks, they just laugh, hang loose dude, we shall show you what the problem is, they pop the tire and lo and behold, is a ton of corosion, between the rubber inner gasket, got a steel stem, got an alum wheel, got leaks do to, two disimilar metals, they wirebrush off the corosion, put a bead sealer on the stem and am good to go.25 bucks
come home, call the tirerack and rant, they have never heard of such a problem, send me out 4 new steel stems, back to wheelworks, two old stems leaking, owner is a friend of mine and I am a very good customer, he pops in 4 rubber stems, problem is solved, they do not look as nice, but the problem is solved, 50 bucks, my point is, any savings you make get online from a discount dealer, may come back and bight you in the butt :banghead:

I use NTB. A bit more pricey but they are great.

Each location is different though, some suck, some are really good.

Glad you got it all done though.

Go somewhere local and you get the stems for free :D

Good to see you got it worked out though! They look great!

at least they tried to sell you what you needed

the told me the following-

1. my 18" white saleens didn't exist

2. nitto didn't make a tire in a size that would fit

3. i was going to break my TRANSMISSION if i ran different sized tires (width, not overall height) on an AWD.

then they wouldn't mount the tires (that i ordered from them after showing them the tires on their own website) on the wheels i had to get elsewhere etc. etc.

on top of all that- recently explorerchic tried to get the same wheels and tires that i run from them and he suggested like a 235/35/18 tire for her...

Don't you hate it when people don't know what they're talking about, even when they offer it themselves?

Sometimes you've just got to reach through the phone and slap somebody. Or slap someone else nearby. I never liked tirerack because I type in the type of vehicle I have and they don't give me any options. And their representations of the vehicles suck. American Racing has the best sight for showing their rims on your exact vehicle. That really sucks though, I'd be so frustrated beyond belief after they sent bad rims twice.

Never did like tire rack.. Running a lowered ranger they will refuse to sell me low pro tires stating that the load rating is to low for the tires.. They are afraid that I will do something and try to sue them I guess..

Kind of funny though since there is a HUGE hole in my bed I can barely carry enough supplies for a 3 day truck show in the bed alone trying to actually haul something.. Guess thats why I like having a friend that works at a tire shop.. I get great service and good prices..

i bought winter tires for my car from tire rack w/o any probs, but when i called them to ask why they don't list anything but stock 15's on their website for my x (i was looking for 17's) here's the load of crap i got: :frustrate

"Sorry, we do not have any 17" wheels for your vehicle. We can only sell products that have been approved for use on your Explorer by Ford. Let me know if you have any other questions or need anything else."

Thank you,
Emily
