I replaced my Wilderness ATs in March 2000 because of the treads. Ford told me I get nothing because I did it before Firestone announced the recall. Has anyone else run into this?

yeah, i replaced my AT's in November of 2000 because i noticed slight tread seperation. it looked very unsafe. they were only recalling the ATX's at the time, so nothing for me.
i had to pay over $400 for new cooper tires.

You should be elegible for a refund leenjen. The PDF form that I downloaded from Ford's website puts the date at August 1, 2000. Anyone that purchased tires on or after that date up to cutoff date May 22 only need to fill out the form and mail in your original receipt for reimbursement. As of May 23, there is a different form that needs to be filled out and the rules are different. I think you have to return your old tires to Ford as of May 23. I am unfortunately in the same situation as rjcaligan. Here in Phoenix, the local news station started running reports about tires blowing out like crazy on the freeway as the outside temperature increased. The story ran in May, 00. I had a bad vibration in my 16" ATs so I had them traded out at Discount Tire on June 7. Two months later the recall was annonced.

hey today i got something from ford about the recall. it gave me a list of stuff i can put on along with a letter. they're still reimbursing for bigger tires right? and do you get to keep the firestones once they are replaced, or does the shop have to take them? i was thinking about going to a place called discount tire that i can get 32" goodyear ats or something (cant remember name) and sending the bill to ford. does that shop need to reimburse me for it? when is the cutoff to have all tires replaced also? thanks guyz

Jay,
I think from what I hear if you go to discount tire they will put on the tires, you pay the tire place the money, then you go to ford and bring your reciept and ford will reimburse up to $110 per tire for 15" rims. I am not sure if ford will want the old tires.

You can't keep the old tires, at least that's what they told me.
