good luck. hardly anyone sells there set once they have them. best bet is to order a new set from bob.

i found a new unused set friday, but i didnt get his email in time this wknd and ended up messing out on them. i looked at torque monsters website and total to my door would be $824 and there is just no way i can swing that for a set of headers. dont get me wrong they are very well made. i just wish he would offer them in plain steel or just painted so you have the choice of a cheaper price. maybe he will have a sale on them some day i hope lol. untill then i will keep looking and hoping to find some used ones.

He is about 5 weeks behind on building them...which means that he is selling enough of them at his current price, that he wouldn't need to drop the price...

Supply and demand.

Stores put stuff on 'sale' when they NEED to move the merchandise, cutting their own profits on the basis of "we'll make it up in volume"

Bob doesn't NEED to sell his headers for a lower price. People are still demanding them, and opening their wallets wide open to get them.

Sorry, but that's just the way it works...

Ryan

there has to be some body that has a good used set for sale?
is the phone number on the website good? i called it and it rang and rang. got a machine but it didnt say anything about headers? so i just priced them on the website. if there is a diff. number please let me know thanks

his number is good, and have talked to him a few times over the last few weeks (he's a one man show, sometimes he can answer, sometimes he cant because he also has a day job as well). i have a set on order, and they more then likely will be more when they get to my door, then if they came to your door. he is in the process of building up his stock again. like ryan just said, he doesn't need to lower his price when you factor in the time it takes for him to make them, coat them, order the flanges, and collectors, and ship them, his profit is very little. if he wanted to close shop, we would all be left hanging. to give you an example, about 8 years ago, i ordered a set of hooker super comps for my 81 capri (swapping a 429 big block into it). they came uncoated, no gaskets, or hardware and they were 800 and as far as i am concerned, they are junk. the cost of a good set of headers is no longer cheap, and if you find a set of "cheap" ones, order 10 of them, because they wont last long. sorry to burst your bubble.

LOL, you're joking, right? :p:

There always seems to be someone looking for a used set. Yeah, they do come up for sale once in a blue moon, but when they do you need to be in the right place at the right time because they never last long.

I've never actually seen someone "asking" for a used set actually find one.

what if you don't want them coated? i also don't need any of the egr stuff on the headers. would he build them the way you ask for? (some people don't like things polished under there hood) i love keeping stuff stock looking, even my headers if possible. if you open my hood it all looks like factory ford. atleast on the outside of the motor anyway. some people don't like the stock look but i do.

They look shiny for about the first test drive and then turn a not so shiny shade of grey in short order. I don't know the technical reasons why, but the coating serves a purpose I think.

Bob does custom work. Ask him.

ok. does bob have a profile on this website? if so how can i find him on hear. thanks. that way i can send him a message about what i am wanting done, and he can get back to me when he has time. i know all about the one man show, i run a mechanic shop from my home, it gets crazy some times.

just a heads up for anybody else looking for a used set of tmh headers. there is a used set on craigslist in the ATLANTA GA. SECTION (warner robins) for $375 posting id# 2653429407 but those are over 9hours away from me. just thought i would post it for some body that might be closer to that area that might need some.

Work out a shipment deal with the seller. That's not a bad deal. Used headers around these parts (i.e. on EF) run in the $450-$500 range and sellers get that.

yea!

I wish I had the money I would be all over them in a heart beat! there is no way shipping would be so bad that it would top the price of new one.

oh!
and welcome to the site!

and also understand Bob's side as the builder/owner of this product.

if he offered them in a "no coat" part. people would do bad things to them. and his reputation for building the best header for an explorer v-8 would start to dwindle just like the other big header companies.

you can get cheap hooker headers. but you get what you pay for. and hooker doesn't care how long they last for you, they sell thousands of them.

thanks guys. i sent bob an email to find out what a set would run with no egr tubes or anything in them because i am not running that on my motor. fig. that would be an easy way of getting ahold of him. i have tried calling and can never seem to catch him. and i agree 200% he makes damn nice set of headers. but im just like the next guy trying to make every $ go as far as it will go on my toys lol. and that was a very good deal i found on craigslist. but he said he wouldnt ship. pick up only. thats the 2nd set ive found in the last 2wks. first set i messed out on by a day because i didnt check my emails in time. oh wheel thats the way it goes. i have an off topic question for who ever might know the answer to. my ranger is a 1998 does anybody know what all you have to do to fit a newer front clip on it? and what all years will fit? i really like how the edge looks but not sure what all has to be changed and if its just a simple bolt on swap.

Has anybody talked to Bob at TM lately? I ordered a set about 6 weeks ago and he said he had a run of 30 sets about ready to ship........I have not recieved my headers yet and have not been able to get ahold of Bob, nor had a message I left returned.

Just checking to see if anybody has had any recent contact with him.

Thanks,
Brent
