Torsion flip completed too...

Well, I have the tuned Edelbrocks from EE coming tomorrow. Just wondering what options I have later. Thanks.

I wouldn't push those beyond their use really, I've heard way too many horror stories on those things busting in only 6 months, even with the drop. Or maybe it's a just a luck of the draw with each pair, who knows. :p

I never said anything about Monroe's, now did I? :p

Sadly, Edelbrock's (from what I've heard) have a tendency to bust after a certain amount of time, others can vouch for it. Gabriel VSTs and Monroe's, I know expo5.0 runs VSTs on his lowered truck, but he also has ARC. You should be fine dude, trust me, I wanna lower your rig anyways. =P

Would any others like to vouch??

Also you say here they bust after 6 months, even with the drop. These are tuned for a drop so what exactly did you mean?

This is only what I've heard, aldive actually may be the one to tell his story. Whether they're tuned or not for being lowered doesn't compromise for the lack of structural formation in the shock itself. My word is almost useless till some of the folks here vouch for it, but you could search the forums for info on Edelbrocks and being lowered.

I will run my stock shocks for a little wile and then get a set of the Edelbrocks
I have liked then in the past with my car..

Well, I plan to change out my Edelbrocks pretty soon as I'm not very happy with the way they have been performing lately. They are a bit too bouncy especially in a turn. draft, what custom shocks are you going with?

I only purchased the rears thus far, $40 something a pop. Good friend of mine recommended me DJM Suspension (www.djmsuspension.com), as they're excellent in lowering. I'm actually even thinking about getting a set of steel blocks & U-bolts for extra sturdiness from them too, not sure though. If you call them (18002DROPIT) and ask for lowering shocks for an Explorer, they'll say they have nothing, so I handed the phone over to my friend, explained exactly how long we needed the piston and so forth, travel, etc, and they were ordered. Waiting approx 2-3 weeks for them.

Something like this...

Those probably don't help much, but that's them. If you want the specifics on them, I'll have my friend write them down and PM ya. Just lemme know. :]

EDIT, I just remembered, I still have those stupid plates down there, I thought I took 'em out and tossed them. Just wondering, would taking them out raise/lower it than it already is? I think the U-bolt has enough thread where I could at least take out most of them, lower shockmount is soo close to the ground. Maybe this would help the travel in the suspension?

I'm no expert in suspension, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks for the info. Right now I'm more concerned about the front shocks as they are so close to bottoming out. I definately need shorter shocks. If you could send me those specs, that be cool.

Removing those plates shouldn't change the height and will also bring the shock mounts up.

Ugh, sorry man. I started a new job yesterday, and I've just been exhausted to do anything else (can't really do much when you work 7am-8pm), I'll try and give the guy a call tomorrow for ya.

I might take those plates out next week, something to do at least. :p

hey how much was it to get everything painted, if you dont mind me asking?

edit-damn, you also have lots of stuff i was thinkin about doing, like black and tan interior(mine is all tan right now) is that new leather or is it painted?

Looks awesome! I likey.... I need to do this...my 3" drop looks lifted compaired to yours :)

have u gotten it aligned correctly yet with the camber adjusters? how does it ride?

Nope, can't afford it right now, but it looks as it will be done this coming week. Brakes are shot, so I'm getting the slotted/drilled and hawk pads put in, and at the same time I might just get the adjusters put in. Problem is, I bottom out alot and the tires bounce and hit the inner fender walls (already breaking apart the pass one), and if I correct the camber, it'll start smashing against the painted fender flare... little dillema I guess.

Ride? Sucks, I'll be honest, I await the day I can finally afford the BMW of my dreams and have a nice smooth ride. But for right now, it's bearable and just gotta warn your passangers. Gotta drive slow for the most part, saves gas... it's not too bad, but like Hartman always says, it grows on you, and it will. =\

Shocks won't do a whole lot when you don't have much suspension travel. You guys can't have more than 1" of travel up front.

I have more up front than I do in the rear. Front is alot more bouncy because there's no such thing as bumpstops on this truck anymore. Which brings me to a dillema.. I want the extra travel, but I bottom out so much that it makes me want to cut the stops to size so i'll hit before it slams the inner wheel well. Doesn't even matter I guess.
