Towing hitch question

To those that have towed already, anyone know if a hitch with a say 2" drop is necessary or just straight with no drop for hauling a utility trailer (5x8)? I know alot of this is dependent on the trailer. I only ask because I needed one with my old trailblazer any my titan. Can't really gauge how the height of the receiver vs a trailblazer.

I have a 4 x 6 utility trailer and I had to use a 5" drop to get it level. For most utility trailers you will definitely need some sort of drop.

All trailers are different. There really isn't a standard height. You'll have to take both together to a hitch place (any U-Haul) and get yourself the correct drop for a level ride. There are adjustable hitches that you can level yourself, too. A little more money, but useful for using multiple trailers. Found at any auto parts store.

Forget Uhaul....they will not sell or rent to anyone that is driving an Explorer. Corporate policy forbids renting a trailer or installing a hitch or accessory to anyone that will be using a Ford Explorer to tow the trailer with!

I believe Loganfilm was saying to go to a U-Haul place to get the proper hitch, not a trailer.

In the days of lawsuits and lawyers. I think Ford should sue U-Haul for slander because I'm pretty sure U-Haul does help put a bad name to the Explorer via their policy which is unfounded for current gen explorers. It's a bias with no technical evidence whatsoever. Not that I want to rent from U-Haul, I just hate how they are holding a 15+ year old grudge.

U-Haul started renting to Ford Explorer owners again just this week but only for 2011 + model years.
