I am planning on pulling two harley davidson motorcycles down to florida. I have a 2002 ford explorer 4.0 V6 XLS. It has the factory 1 1/4" hitch on it. The trailer i am renting is a 7x10 and it weighs about 1200 pounds. The two motorcycles have a combined weight of 1800 pounds. The distance is 1000 miles one way. Will my truck be ok? Should I upgrade to a 2" receiver? Do I need to worry about trans oil/engine oil overheating? What is included with a factory towing package on these explorers?

So you have a combined weight of about 3k pounds -- sounds like you're under the 3.5k limit for that Class-II hitch. Just be careful though, you're only 500 pounds away!
