Towing with overdrive?????

Jason: I don't know but it sure seems like it "screams" at 65 MPH towing when out of overdrive. Other 5.0 liter owners...is this characteristic of yours also? Mike

Is it only when towing? Or does it do the same thing during normal driving without o/d?

Jason: It also seems to be a little "wound" up out of OD unloaded, but it is much more noticeable when I am loaded/towing. I tow about 3500 lbs, easily with the the limits of a 5.0. At 63 MPH, the tach shows 2900 RPM. I have a 3.73 LSD. Of course I have been towing with my 4.0 and listening to it for almost 10 years. It too, has a 3.73 LSD. Is a 5.0 supposed to sound this way? Sounds like a lot of fan noise/RPMs. Mike

Yes the 5.0's noises are very diferent. My mom's 5.0 explorer makes a weird whining noise especially noticeable when stopping, it sounds like a spceship or something. But you're gonna get those extra noises with more moving parts, not to worry.

My 93 doesnt have a OD push on button its just 4th gear(its auto) >P R N OD D 2 1< I always leave it in OD when i am driving(city driving) and i dont tow anything with it. That wont do harm will it?...
