The ones from the 18's will work fine. Might take an inexpensive "rebuild" kit when swapping to replace the seals / washers.

FYI you do not need to install the TPMS on these wheels if you do not wish to. They are only required on OEM wheels.
I went the other way. Replaced my 20's with the base model 17" steel wheels.
Much lower cost. I did install new TPMS in them through the dealer at $56.60 (CDN) per sensor. They can be had cheaper through the Internet.

It is a tire valve kit. The new Explorers don't use the banded type. I had them installed on my 17" base model Winter wheels but unfortunately the invoice doesn't give a part number. Not sure if they would be the same as the ones I have in my OEM 20's

Looking at www.fordparts.com, there appears to be only one part number 1A189. Then there is a TPMS-12 and TPMS-23. My invoice for the 17" steel wheel shows a *12*.

Don't the factory 20" polished upgrade wheels come with TPMS? I thought the EX came standard with TPMS. I had started a thread about this previously and asked the question because when I go into the MFT diagnostics screen, it shows TPMS as being "off" but when I turn the key on, it shows the light for TPMS and the manual says the EX has TPMS.

OP....are you purchasing the 20" polished wheels after the fact?

yes, purchasing on my own. thanks for the answers!!!
