I wanted my navigation to do this:

By using the basic navigation (my explorer has voice activated everything) I would say an address like Farmers Market in Los Angeles....I wouldnt say Farmers Market, I would find out the address and say it although maybe it would work both ways, but, after I do that and the route starts, and lets say I am coming from Malibu, i would want it to tell me how long it will take

including current traffic conditions

such as lets say it is 4pm on a monday, and it is 45 miles, well if no traffic it should say 45 miles 55 mins for example, but at 4pm on a monday it should say 45 miles 120 mins, instead, due to current traffic, right?

but i used my navi in San Fran the other day and it didnt appear to take current traffic conditions into account, so I then used the phone to use the traffic/directions/info deal and it only allowed me to tell it the name of a city not an address

etc...so not sure what is what, I thought these new gps navigation systems had real time traffic calculated right into the routes when you started a route?

maybe it does and i didnt realize it, i do remember it telling me about accidents on route and did i want to avoid them, so it must but it just didnt seem to when i was driving from A to B and it took longer to get there than it said it would, etc.

anyone know if the navi includes real time traffic in areas where that would be available like los angeles etc?

forgetting the option of using your phone to connect to traffic info per above post, does the basic nav included real time traffic ?

It's supposed to and certainly does not. I live in Los Angeles and this stupid machine will route me right to the worst traffic ever. I've been using my iPad suction cupped to my window, because of this and the crashing, slow, buggy, lame ass software in my new Explorer.

Not only does the MotionX nav app correctly reroute me away from traffic snarls, I can actually get addresses entered in seconds instead of minutes or never. It also remembers previous entries. The car deletes them willy nilly.

Lame lame lame.

Get it together, Ford.

bummer, but you live in the greatest place in the world. so be happy about that

so you are saying it does a lousy job of routing you but what i want is it to say 10 miles and 45 mins to get there not 12 mins because there is traffic, etc

They are related. It's clearly not taking traffic into account for your time.

MotionX will say: 3 miles, 45 minutes. Ford: 3 miles, 3 minutes.

(in Friday afternoon traffic on the 405!)
