Do all Explorers come from the factory with a hookup for trailer lights? I was told that there is and I can't find one. I have a 99 2wd Sport and I don't have a manual. Thanks.

Boy, thanks for all the help! I guess I will find the answer for myself.

You could always run a search on "trailer lights" or something.

I don't personally know of 99's, but try looking under the passenger side of the rear bumper for a cable with a connector on it

Anytime!:D

If you don't get a response for your thread, wait awhile. Then maybe post to it with "bump" or "BTT" once or twice. If someone doesn't reply, it is because no one knows. It is not because no one wants to help you.

The wiring connector on my '99 is near the driver's side rear light assembly.

Good luck.....

Most of the newer Explorers have a trailer wiring plug hanging down behind the driver's side tail light. You can buy a harness that just plugs in from most auto stores. If you don't have the plug, there are direct plug in harness's available that "T" into your wiring harness without having to splice wires. You unplug the harness in the jack compartment in the back, and plug the "T" in there.

It's not that we don't like to help out. It's just that with so many posts, some get lost occasionally. The forum sees several hundred posts a day, so it's easy to miss a bunch when you are scanning through them. As Morissey0 said, just bump it if no one responds in a day. that usually works.
