I got a 97 explorer, had the factory round trailer plug under the bumper. Cut the plug off and soldered and heatshrinked and wire loomed a flat connector for a trailer. With about a two foot lead on it. Do you think this will work out ok or should have I bought a plug. The reason for doing this was i put a wiring harness on there before not knowing there was the factory one. You know the one, you had to run a constant from the battery and unplug the rear tails and plug wires from this into the brain. You had to ground the thing also. Anyways i was pulling my four wheeler home and it blew the fuse on the thing i bought from autozone. I put a new fuse in it, then the box or the brain started smoking. So i said forget it and just used the factory wiring. I just wonderd if what i did would be aight.
