Okay... so my Vacuum Modulator on my 93XLT 4x4 went. Spent 2 hours tearing out the interior so I could access the panel & replace it. Put a brand new one in, and a new hose, (and yes, I remembered to replace the pin inside.) So here's my problem. After I installed the new piece, the tranny has no more power in 1st gear & stalls from 2nd to 3rd. I step on the gas and the truck barely moves. When the old unit was in there, I never had a problem (except tranny fluid disappearing). Now I wish I had the old one, cuz I'd rather have to replace fluid than sit there waiting for my truck to move. Any Ideas on what the problem is?? (I also did a complete tranny flush & fill 3 months ago so I know it's not the filter)

HELP!!!!!

There are 3 kinds of modulators. The most common one is the regular one without any external adjustments. The next type is the adjustable one with the small wheel that you could fine tune. The third type is made for the turbo versions (maybe for a Mustand, or Thunderbird). Which one did you put in? I hope it was the regular one.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that there are 2 kinds of pins that could go into it. I saw the pictures in Glacier's gallery. It looks like one is a little smaller, and the part inside of the case is different (that piece where the pin pushes against).

This is the picture that I was referring to from Glacier991's photo gallery:

Yup... that's the problem... my original one was the bottom pic. The replacement one they gave me at the parts store was the top one. Problem is, it doesn't come with the adjustment knob, but it has the threading on it for one. Is this gonna ruin my tranny??? I've been driving like this for 2 weeks now. I hate it when they give the wrong parts.

Should I go to Ford and get an OEM part?

Any help would be appreciated!

Nope.. only the modulator itself. I called up the parts store today (Autozone) and they said they only carry the piece itself. How can they call it an OEM replacement when it's not OEM at all?? The other pieces are impossible to find!! GRRRRR

I called every parts store, and they all have the same thing. Modulator without the necessary parts... This sucks.
