Tranny problem unlike any other-HELP!

I have a 94 with 125k miles on it. This last weekend we went out on a trip and I noticed that at stop lights, the X would take off like it was in second gear. What the freak? To make things worse--in the mornin when I take off, it wont shift thru the gears unless I manually shift it down to second and start thru the gears from there. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. Im not a moron-so please dont state the obvious--yes--I did check tranny fluid--not burnt or low.

You also need to check the vacuum line, shift linkage and kick down linkage. then there are several other tests to perform before actually dropping the pan or tranny.....it may be time, it may not....

A visual inspection of the linkage and vacuum line is the first thing I would do....
