Ok here is the deal, I have a friend who wants to trade straight across my auto tranny for his manual, his truck is being built up right now so it's not driving, my question is , since both are complete just in different trucks is this swap gonna be fairly simple, besides unhooking and switching stuff around? also do we swap computers also, we both have the auto transfer case so not moving those, and last but not least how hard is it to swap out the steering and shifter column's, and the guage cluster also so he will have the P,N,OD,D,2,1. anyinfo would be greatly appreciated. thanks:confused:

thanks bill. but will the computers need swapped also????????

Not sure about that one. I would think that you would atleast need to have the computer reprogrammed for the speedo to work properly.

I am pretty sure you wont have to touch the computer, I have been looking into this conversion for a while and i think the hardest part will be the clutch interlock and back up lights but the interlock just keeps the vehicle from being started in gear with the key so no big deal, if you go ahead with this swap please post all the details and maybe a pic or two please please please:bounce: :bounce:

Take a look at my sig, it should have a link in there for this. I did it in september, not to bad, just alot of time cause i did it by myself. Computer, well i bought one because it will have different fuel curves for the auto and manual, so if you have the cash, i would. You'll have to anyways to get your 4lo to work.

Happy trails!!

That could get pretty ugly... don't forget you'd have to cut a hold in the floor.. When I was looking at an '89 camaro with a 4 speed, I wanted 5 or 6, I was advised not to bother switching transmissions because I'd have to cut up the floor, which could get ugly... just a thought

Actually the hole is already there. Just pull back the carpet and there is a plate there that covers the hole up, just unbolt it get a plate that has a hole in it and you are good to go. I was worried about the same thing outlaw, i lucked out when i saw that!!

Happy trails!!

ya take out the bolts and the plate comes right out so no prob there. getting ready to pull it out soon, we just got the front end back under kyles truck last weekend he is making a new , f@cking beefy as hell crossmember that incorporates the radius arms, it is almost done , if every thing works right I'm gonna do the same, but once it can be towed then we're gonna do the swap. :D
