I blew the freeze plugs out of my tranny and dried it out. The clutch blew up about the same time. So I had a new clutch put in it, and got the freeze plugs back in. But it's still squeeling in every gear (except overdrive).

If it ends up that I have to get it rebuilt... Shouldn't I just get a bigger, badder transmission put in instead of the same Mazda 5 on the floor that'll just crap out again?

What is a tranny that would be better? How much would it cost (including adaptors and stuff).

I'd spend a little more (not a lot more, but a little more) to get something bullet-proof. I'm sick of this Mazda and from the look of things, lots of you guys are too.

Any ideas?

I don't think there is anything available yet. What you can try to do though is to contact Mike Partridge at Advance Adapters and tell him your story. Tell him you want a stronger 5 speed not an automatic and that you're happy with your 4.0 and don't want a V-8 conversion.

You see I've been through this with them and those are the things they'll tell you to try.

Advance Adapters has already come out with an Atlas II transfer case for our Explorers. Now we need them to come out with a killer tranny swap!!

There website is at www.advanceadapters.com . You can find contact information there.
