tranny swap

ok so can i just basically swap the a4ld out for the mazda 5-speed out of an explorer of the same year and same engine...obviously there will be the need for some cutting for the shifter and clutch but other than that will it work?

the swap should be a relative easy one if you have the donor vehicle close by. the clutch/brake pedals are in and out fairly easy swap. the computer is different from an automatic to a standard. one thing that may be different is the front yoke on the drive shaft. my books say the driveshafts are different, but it may only be the front yoke.

the length of the driveshaft will be different if one vehicle is a 2dr (sport) and the other is a 4dr. you would be better off if you can compare length/yokes on the two driveshafts. again, if the donor vehicle is close by, I don't see any major problems in the swap**.

** disclaimer: I'm assuming mechanical ability and a willingness to get hot and greasy on your part (lol)
