On a 2001 Sport Trac, do the metal transmission lines go over or under the sway bar? I removed mine while my engine was out and now I'm trying to reinstall them and I'm having trouble reinstalling them with the engine now in. I can't remember how they ran. Thinking they should go over the sway bar... ?

Over. Mine are about 2" above the sway bar. Probably one of those things that become obvious as you do it.

Yeah, that's what I was beginning to think. I had a heck of a time trying to reinstall them with the engine in. I think rather than remove them to try to reroute them over the sway bar I'll just remove the sway bar and reinstall it under the lines. Bit of a PITA, but doable.

-Thanks.

yeah its do able, not easy, but do able.
After going this route next time you will remember to install the trans lines before you lower the block down..... history is the best teacher LOL

"Next time"? There will not be a next time for this job. History is the best teacher, but at my age I tend to forget the lesson... LOL

Once I get the lines back above the sway bar I have another issue to deal with. When I was removing the engine I had loosened, but forgot to disconnect, the bracket that supports the trans lines. While jacking the engine up the lines got slightly bent before I noticed the bracket was stilled attached. Last evening while fighting to get the lines reattached to the trans I somehow got the line that goes to the oil cooler on the wrong side of the line that goes to the top of the radiator. Now I don't know how I'm going to untwist them. Now that I've finally managed to get the 2 lines reattached to the trans, disconnecting them again is not something I want to do. I may cut oil cooler line and add a short rubber line splice to reconnect it. IDK, I hate doing stuff like that. I'm going to leave it for a while and re-approach the issue later. Maybe a better solution will present itself.

Note: I bit the bullet and took stuff apart to get the lines where supposed to be.
