Ok I changed all the solenoids in trans and the one on t/c and rear diff. Still same. The (ABS) light is on all the time and has been since I got it on the road.
This is what happens. When driving for about 15 mins It starts to not shift on time rpm at 3100 then shifts and if I take off the gas then step again it races a little. If I shift manual it works. I am a certified deisel mechanic but this is entirely different. Is the (ABS) for the brakes ? And will it effect the trans operation. If so where is it. I got a code on my auto xray it was 500 which is vss and 1506 which is idle control. This is a 97 4.0 sohc, 5r55e with a 4405
T/C Any help would be great.
Also the speedo most of the time does not work and when it does it jumps.

The ABS brakes have nothing to do with the trans shifts. The ABS unit is under the hood on driver side. One of the front brake sensors may be bad, they can be checked with an ohm meter. The ABS unit may be bad. Does you scanner read ABS codes and DTC codes? As for the trans does the OD Light flash, if it did, you need to pull the DTC code for the trans. The 5R55E trans is a 5 speed with lock up torque converter. The manual can be downloaded from this forum, it is in the stickies.

The od light does not flase and is known to work. My scanner does not read abs codes. I was going to change all of the wheel sensors anyway. but more concerned about trans. I just now ordered the valve body gaskets. Get them in 3 days. Trans has 205,000 miles on it, motor has 19,009

With that many miles on the trans, the valve body bores may be worn, or there could be internal clutch, or servo seal leakage, many don't make it that far and some do. Valve body wear is due to the fact that many of the valves oscillate all the time. Hard driving and dirty fluid speed up wear. There is no magic fix with this trans, what fixes one doesn't work on another with the same problem. Point is there are several things that can cause the same problem. Get the manual and check the problems.
