Greetings! I'm two months into owning an "experienced" 01 4wd Sport and noticed the transfer case leaking constantly. I must admit, my teenage son has challenged the truck in off-road situations recently, even to the point of a stress crack in the windshield. For you experienced 4WD owners out there, would you take this to a dealer, third party shop, or where? I cleaned the case, re-torqued the bolts (no movement), and it appears the seal between the two casting halves on the transfer case has given up.

Now I'm pretty handy fixing things, but a transfer case I've never attempted. Looking for some advice... David

David, first check the vent hose at the top of the t case and also the one for the trans for obstructions.

Now check the t case fluid level, you can try to add a BG ATF+3 product or similar that may slow/stop the leak.
Be advised the trans and t case share some fluid, if its an auto.

It should not be leaking from the T case, they usually last a good long time even with abuse.

i was thinking the same thing with my transmission. but i've already completely destroyed one at paragon and now my second one is leaking at the seam. it's a manual transmission, so it shouldve been able to hold up to some off road abuse.
