Transfer Case

I have already posted a question about this, but I cannot find it by doing a search. Quite a few months ago I put in a transfer case and it is not working now. I posted on this site and I received comments about taking the electric motor apart and cleaning it. I also received a web site about this being a common problem with the common fix. Is any of this right and does anyone have that web page? Also can I reuse the RTF is the transfer case?

I would change the fluid if you have to go through the trouble of draining it.

And, yes messages are occasionally purged from the system.
