Question, in changing the radiator in 2003 Fd Explorer XLT 4WD, the transmission cooler has to be removed with the radiator assembly, removed from assembly to swap radiator.
Probably everyone knows this but exactly how much actual transmission fluid is leaked out? From looking at how one determines the full capacity of the transmission, cannot really tell if level is anywhere between overfilled to maybe a tad low. In measuring guess, it seems only about 2 cups came out of cooler. Is that amount worrisome and need to add or good to go?

You can pull the radiator without pulling the trans cooler and AC condenser. A ratcheting box end 8mm wrench will be your friend here.

I would say it's always good to know if transmission fluid level is in specs.

Regardless if transmission cooler stays in or gets out with the radiator as a unit
(as they mentioned here, maybe it's easyer?)

Maybe a transmission cooler back flush is a good idea? Maybe easy if the transmission cooler is out.
Have done this some times ago while changing tranny, this is what came out.
