Transmission Interchangable?

I have a 2006 Explorer 4x4 Eddie Bauer Edition with a bad transmission. Will a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4x4 transmission work? Both are V6 4.0. Thanks Holly F

This is hard to say. While it could physically be a match it might not be electronically. I recommend consulting a transmission shop to get an answer if you can't get one here.
