Need a little info - 93 into 96 trans swap?

I have a 96 Explore Eddie Bauer 4.0 with a bad transmission. I found a 93 Explore Eddie Bauer. Will the transmission from the 93 interchange into the 96. Thanks any help is appreciated.

The '93 used the old traditional A4LD transmission, and '95 and later Gen 2's used electronically controlled 4R55E, 5R55E, and 4R70W. So no, they are not interchangeable with the PCM and OBDII system that is in the '96.
