I have a 1998 Ford explorer automatic 4.0 sohc with the 5R55E transmission can't seem find used one for this out of a exploder if anyone would be able to help me I'd appreciate it. Trying help a disabled friend of mine out to get his wheels spinning again. Thanks God bless oh and merry Christmas happy new year as well

Honestly, you’re better off pulling the existing trans and rebuilding it.

If I had to guess, I’d say that the majority of 5R55E trucks that are in the junkyard for mechanical reasons have transmission issues. It’s quite a dice roll for a lot of wrenching.

agree with c420 here. the rangers also came with 5r55e but i dont know if they interchange due to MY differences. 98-01 Xs have the 5r55e too

also 420 is right, usually goes befoee the motor, so it is a probable cause of junking.
