To make a long and one day funny story short. I got impatient waiting at a light today and thought I'd use the shoulder to get into the left turn lane, when there was a pole on the shoulder I went a little further into the dirt median. Well it's been raining here since october and we just got a decent snow fall and my explorer sunk on the drivers side above the sidestep in mud. I was in 4 high at the time and was just spinning, I put it into 4 low and after about 5 minutes of trying and sliding to the left the whole time and people staring at me like "who is that raging mad man" I was able to get out of the mud.
I drove it to the nearest gas station (up one light) put it in park gave the x a walk around and everything seemed ok. I drove to my wife's work about 2 miles and picked her up, everything was working great.
I stopped to pick up my wife never turning the x off. That's when it hit the fan. It was driving like I was in 4 low, then the o/d off light started flashing. Then drive wouldn't work but I could go in 1 or 2. Then neutral was going like drive, then reverse wouldn't work and I couldn't find a neutral. I finally got reverse to work and let the x sit for about 4 hours while I took care of some stuff around town.
When I went back to it tonight it seemed to have all it's gears back.
This is the current problem. When I go into drive there is a clunk, then when I'm going from first to second and second to third there is a hesitation or a slipping (an increase in rpm's) that is there now that wasn't before.
I noticed a whine while in idle to about 1500rpm's
I noticed a vibration at 60mph that wasn't there before
sorry for the lengthy post maybe you guys can help.
I plan on going for the tranny complete flush tomorrow, anything else you recommend is much appreciated.
