Transmission Wiring Harness

I have a 1997 Explorer XLT with 4.0 sohc I just replace the engine with a new 2001 4.0 sohc I currently have the 5R55E transmission and the new wiring harness is different from what I understand is the transmissions from 2001 up use the same trans with one difference they added a 5th gear. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that I can use or is there a way that I can modify the wiring harness to make it work for my current transmission?. I want to keep the new wiring harness because I want to use the the 2001 fuel system instead of the 1997 system. thanks for any input on this subject. jim rupe www.rupeair@juno.com

Use your old harness and modify it if you need to in order to plug into the new computer.
Cant you use your 97 computer to control the new 01 SOHC engine?
Might require some changes in sensors on the block?
