Trimming front air dam

2011 Explorer XLT
Has anyone trimmed or removed the front air dam? The darn thing is so low to the ground that it hits curb stops and steep drives. Any effects of doing it?

Haven't had the issue yet, it gets close, but haven't scraped it yet.
